Approximately 150 residents from the New Trier Township brought their own colorful fleece fabric and finished 140 blankets for donation to Project Linus, the Red Cross and many area shelters on January 15, 2007 in honor of Martin
Luther King and his commitment to service.

Members of the Baha’I House of Worship Paradise Drum Circle played African drums
while volunteers busily completed their blankets.

As winter draws to a close and thoughts of spring are near, The Volunteer Center of New Trier Township (VCNTT) reflects on its recent programs and upcoming events. Through our broadcast emails and website (www.volunteercenterntt.org), notices are spread about programs and events that promote volunteerism, encourage service learning, and offer opportunities to enhance the communities we serve. Volunteers donated van loads of assorted goods for Make a Difference Day; delivered new hats, coats and gloves to the homeless through Warming Hearts and Hands and gathered together to make blankets while learning about Martin Luther King’s “Day ON of Service.” The VCNTT Junior High Youth Board continues to make connections at Rice Children’s Home while our High School Youth Board prepares for its National Day of Service in April. Local volunteers will be honored at our Annual Recognition Lunch in May and service agency representatives will present valuable information and opportunities during the Volunteer Fair.
