Make A Difference Day

It’s not too late to register your family or group to organize a collection for any or all of the following items in support of the nine social service agency recipients. Local volunteers and agency representatives will be available to accept your donations. This annual event brings township residents together to gather requested goods for organizations that make a difference on a daily basis to those in need.

Visit our website, www.VolunteerCenterNTT.org for more details and to register your group. It is helpful for us to know in advance how many empty trucks and vans should be ready at the train station. Aren’t part of a group, but have some of these items at your home or you wish to purchase some? Bring them over on the 21st and they’ll be put to good use. This is neighbor helping neighbor at its best. Help nine agencies in one location!

The Volunteer Center High School Youth Corps
Sponsors Drop Your Socks Off
for Night Ministry and The Harbour

Student Representatives from the four high schools in the township, Loyola, New Trier, North Shore Country Day and Regina Dominican, gathered socks in May for runaway teens at the Harbour and the Night Ministry in Chicago. The students presented the socks to the reps from each of the agencies at C.J. Arthur’s in Wilmette and gained valuable insight to the agencys’ programs.

The High School Youth Corp was established last year by the Volunteer Center to continue our emphasis on youth in service. Students were selected by the faculty at each of the schools because of their demonstrated commitment to service and their leadership potential.

Receives 2nd Annual Scholarship

The Volunteer Center Commits to
Granting Four Scholarships in 2007

Furthering its commitment to fostering interest in and activity in service to the community, The Volunteer Center began its scholarship program in 2005 to a New Trier High School graduating senior who embodied these goals. The Volunteer Center board has committed funds to expand the program to include all the township high schools. One student from each of the area high schools -- Loyola, New Trier, North Shore Country Day and Regina Dominican will receive a scholarship to help offset the tuition in the university or college of their choice.

Scholarships will be granted at Awards Ceremonies at each of the schools in the spring.
