It
connects individuals, families, and groups who wish to volunteer their
time and other resources to help others with social service organizations
and schools who need such help.
How long has
VCNTT been around?
This is our 46th
year. We began in 1960 as the Volunteer Talent Pool as a support for
schools.
What area does
VCNTT serve?
Volunteers
generally are sought from New Trier Township: Glencoe, Kenilworth,
Northfield, Wilmette, and Winnetka. However, we are happy to help
anyone looking to volunteer if we can. There are Volunteer Centers
in other nearby areas as well: click on the "Illinois Volunteer
Centers" button at the left to see a list.
The social service
agencies come from a somewhat wider area, though they are predominantly
in northern suburbs and nearby Chicago.
The VCNTT refers
volunteers to what agencies?
We currently
serve about 150 agencies. They all are listed on this web site,
in 12 catergories. You can click on the buttons at the left (Arts,
Disabilities, etc.) to get name and address information about them,
including links to their web sites and e-mails. Note "General
Help" lists agencies that need volunteers for general purposes
such as office work, reception, etc. They serve a variety of areas.
Many agencies are listed in more than one category.
In addition,
volunteers are placed in New Trier Township schools, both public
and private. For a list of them, click on the "Schools"
button in the upper group at the left.

What

Social service
agencies' basic information (name, address, phone numbers, email,
and web site) is listed on our web site at no cost. For a moderate
fee, they may put a much more detailed listing in our online Social
Services Directory, including their mission statement, a description
of the organization, and details of their typical volunteer needs.
The online version is kept up to date and is available to all. Just
click on "2005 Social Service Directory" in our home page,
or click here: 2005 Social

A printed version
of the Directory was also produced.
