On Friday, October 16, 2009, the Volunteer Center and the Winnetka Community House co-sponsored the first Service Symposium. Representatives of non-profit organizations spoke on needs and volunteer opportunities in the service areas of disabilities, youth, seniors, and poverty. The panel session was followed by a volunteer fair, where representatives of 37 non-profits serving these areas were available for attendees to visit with. The panel session and fair were attended by over 80 people. The event was made possible in part by a grant from the Woman's Club of Evanston.
